Multi-neighborhood simulated annealing for the sports timetabling competition ITC2021

Abstract We describe the solver that we developed for Sports Timetabling Competition ITC2021, a three-stage simulated annealing approach, makes use of portfolio six different neighborhoods. Five these neighborhoods are taken from literature on round-robin tournament scheduling, whereas last one, denoted as PartialSwapTeamsPhased, is novel contribution and it specifically designed phased version problem. perform comprehensive statistically principled tuning procedure to find best combination parameters competition instances. dedicate specific focus evaluate given by new neighborhood which yielded better results most Overall, final outcome able feasible solution 44 out 45 instances ranked second in both first milestone round. also propose an Integer Linear Programming model implemented CPLEX, which, unfortunately, did not produce significant competition.
